The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Rivers State has dismissed reports claiming that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) failed to upload the name of its deputy governorship candidate, Dr Mike Barieenee Nwielaghi.

The party’s media directorate, in a statement issued Thursday in Port Harcourt, described the report as false and misleading.

According to the NDC, Nwielaghi’s details were successfully submitted through the appropriate electoral process and uploaded on the INEC portal.

The party maintained that Dr Mike Nwielaghi remains the Rivers NDC candidate for deputy governor, urging members of the public and the media to disregard reports suggesting otherwise.

The statement called for greater caution in the circulation of electoral information, particularly on social media.

“Political discourse should be guided by facts, not speculation, misinformation or attempts to create unnecessary confusion within the electorate,” the party said.

The Rivers NDC also reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, due process and issue-based political engagement as preparations for the election continue.

It urged journalists and members of the public to confirm electoral claims through appropriate official channels before publishing or sharing them.

The party further assured its supporters that it would continue providing updates on its candidates and the electoral process.

“The facts remain clear. Dr. Mike Nwielaghi is the NDC Deputy Governorship Candidate for Rivers State,” the statement added.

Nwielaghi also confirmed that his name had been uploaded by INEC.

He expressed confidence in the party’s prospects, saying the NDC was prepared to win the forthcoming governorship election and provide what he described as the quality of democracy Rivers residents deserve.

He also spoke positively about the party’s governorship candidate, Chief Dumo Lulu Briggs, describing him as a politician loved by people across the state.

The NDC media directorate thanked Rivers residents and its supporters for their continued confidence and solidarity.

It said the party would continue to provide accurate information as the electoral process progresses.
