The Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos State has criticised the All Progressives Congress, urging it to prioritise governance and public service rather than what it described as theatrics.

The remarks followed comments by the Lagos APC spokesman, which the PDP described as unnecessary. The opposition party said it remained focused on rebuilding and engaging with residents despite the exchanges.

The statement was issued by the Lagos PDP Publicity Secretary, Christopher Odianarewo, who addressed recent political developments in the state.

Odianarewo criticised the APC-led administration, alleging that it places more emphasis on publicity than governance.

He said the ruling party should address issues affecting residents rather than commenting on opposition activities.

He stated: “It is indeed fascinating… the APC… now seeks to position itself.”

The PDP spokesperson raised concerns about infrastructure and public projects, including a reported CCTV initiative on the Third Mainland Bridge, which he said lacked visible impact.

He also referenced issues affecting communities such as Makoko, Otumara, Otto, Iwaya and Iyana Oworo, alongside concerns about road conditions in parts of Lagos Island.

The PDP further highlighted concerns about:

  • Multiple taxation
  • Rising transport fares
  • Increasing food prices

It also pointed to national challenges including currency instability, power supply issues and fuel costs as factors affecting living conditions.

Odianarewo said the PDP remains focused on strengthening its structure and reconnecting with Nigerians. He stated that the party aims to present itself as a credible political alternative.

He added that the APC should concentrate on addressing governance challenges rather than engaging in political disputes with the opposition.
