Makinde Declares Interest in NASS, Promises Effective Representation

A former member of the House of Representatives, Rotimi Makinde, has declared his intention to contest the Ife Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 general elections.

He pledged to prioritise welfare, security and infrastructure development.

Makinde previously represented the Ife Federal Constituency in the National Assembly. His declaration signals a return to legislative politics ahead of the 2027 elections.

He said his previous experience in the Green Chamber provides a foundation for his renewed bid to represent the constituency.

Speaking with journalists, Makinde confirmed that he intends to contest under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He stated that his campaign would focus on improving the living standards of constituents through access to essential services and economic opportunities.

Makinde identified key priority areas to include:

  • Improved access to education
  • Better healthcare services
  • Expanded economic opportunities

He said these areas would form the core of his legislative agenda if elected.

Makinde said his previous record in office would guide his approach to representation. He noted that his focus would be on delivering tangible outcomes that directly affect constituents.

He also emphasised the importance of effective representation in addressing local development needs within the constituency.

The former lawmaker confirmed his intention to run on the APC platform, aligning his bid with the ruling party’s political structure.
