President Bola Tinubu has unveiled a fresh round of Tinubu appointments, naming former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose as Chairman of the Board of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) alongside 25 other appointments across key federal agencies and commissions. The appointments, which take immediate effect, were announced in a statement issued in Abuja by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the statement, Fayose will chair the REA Board, working alongside Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta, who were appointed as board members and non-executive directors. The board will also include the agency’s Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, together with three executive directors already serving in the agency. Among the latest Tinubu appointments is the naming of Major General Junaid Bindawa as Chairman of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission.
Former House of Representatives member Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas was appointed Secretary of the commission, while Dr. Ogbole Ene Lilian, Oladele Olatubosun, and Yakubu Umar Barde were named commissioners representing Benue, Oyo and Kaduna states respectively. Additional members appointed into the commission include Dr. Mai Adamu Yau (Borno), Ginika Florence Tor (Enugu), Engineer Lawrence Okoh (Edo), and Bello Morenike Iyabode (Kogi).
The President also reassigned Tosin Johnson Adeyanju, who had earlier been appointed Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund, to serve as Secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission. Other appointments announced include Dr. Abuh Mohammed as Director-General of the National Population Commission, Dr. Akinola Odeyemi as Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET), and Dr. Anthony Inalegwu Godwin as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.
Engineer Julius Oloro, a former local government council chairman, was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM), replacing Dr. A.R. Kamal, who passed away in January. President Tinubu also approved the constitution of a new Board for the Fiscal Responsibility Commission, appointing Dr. Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as Chairman.
Other members of the commission include Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr. Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele, and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola. In another development, Shuni Muhammad Dahiru was appointed Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, succeeding Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, who was earlier reassigned to the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF).
The President also filled the vacancy created by the resignation of Mathias Byuan, former Executive Director (Finance) of the Federal Housing Authority, by appointing Gisaor Vincent Iorja. Iorja, an economist, legal scholar and academic, currently serves as Secretary of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC) and is expected to assume his new responsibilities immediately as part of the latest Tinubu appointments across federal institutions.
