Police Confirm 23 Dead, 108 Injured in Maiduguri Bombings

The Borno State Police Command has confirmed that 23 people were killed and 108 others injured following multiple bomb explosions in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.

The incidents occurred on Monday evening at different locations across the city.

According to the police, the explosions happened at about 7:24 p.m. and affected busy public locations within Maiduguri.

The affected areas included the Monday Market, the Post Office Flyover, and the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.

The attacks disrupted activities in the city and prompted emergency response efforts by security agencies and medical teams.

The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Kenneth Daso, said preliminary investigations indicate that the attacks were carried out by suspected suicide bombers.

He stated:

“Preliminary investigation reveals that the attacks were carried out by suspected suicide bombers. Regrettably, a total of 23 persons lost their lives, while 108 others sustained varying degrees of injuries.”

Emergency responders evacuated injured victims to nearby hospitals for treatment following the explosions.

The police confirmed that the injured victims sustained varying degrees of injuries and are receiving medical attention at different health facilities within the state.

Security operatives were deployed to the affected areas to manage the situation and support ongoing emergency operations.
