Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has urged Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke to continue delivering good governance and meeting the needs of residents following his re-election.

Obasanjo made the call during a congratulatory visit to Adeleke after the governor secured another term in office. The former President visited Adeleke at his country home in Ede, where the two also shared dance steps, according to a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, on Monday.

The former President congratulated Adeleke on his electoral victory and prayed for further success in his administration. He also encouraged the governor to remain focused on good governance and the delivery of dividends of democracy to the people of Osun State.

“Continue to deliver good governance. Continue to meet the needs of your people”, Obasanjo charged the governor.

The former President’s message came shortly after Adeleke’s re-election, placing emphasis on governance and the responsibilities that accompany another term in office. The call also highlighted the need for the administration to continue addressing the needs of residents as it proceeds with its mandate.

Adeleke, who was reportedly surprised by the former President’s visit, expressed appreciation for the gesture and credited God and the people of Osun State for his victory. The governor pledged to remain committed to serving the people and maintaining the support of those who contributed to the outcome of the election.

“Baba, I thank you for this surprise visit. I promise never to disappoint God, Osun people and all lovers of democracy who made our victory possible.”, the governor told the former leader.

Adeleke’s re-election provides his administration with another opportunity to pursue its governance agenda in the state. Obasanjo’s appeal places continued delivery of public services and attention to citizens’ needs among the responsibilities facing the governor during the new term.

The visit also brought together two generations of political leadership, with the former President offering a public message of encouragement to the governor after the election. The Deputy Governor of the state, Prince Kola Adewusi, accompanied Adeleke as he received the former President at his country home in Ede.

Obasanjo’s visit and message followed the conclusion of the electoral process and the return of Adeleke to office, with the governor now expected to continue the administration of Osun State and pursue policies aimed at delivering dividends of democracy to its residents.
