The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed over 2,000 officers across Kwara State as part of enhanced security measures ahead of the Eid‑el‑Fitr festival, Punch Newspaper reports.

The deployment aims to support public safety during the holiday period.

Eid‑el‑Fitr marks the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan and is observed nationwide with prayers, social gatherings and travel.

Security agencies often increase patrols and deployments across states to ensure public order and safety during the holiday.

The NSCDC is a federal security agency tasked with protecting critical national assets, infrastructure and communities across Nigeria.

According to the NSCDC’s Commandant in Kwara State, Mr. Olayinka Olatunji, the deployment of officers covers major towns and communities across the state.

The directive follows planning by the command to ensure visibility and readiness during the festive period.

Mr. Olatunji said the deployment includes personnel assigned to critical public spaces, road corridors and areas expected to experience increased movement during Eid‑el‑Fitr.

He noted that the officers will work alongside other security agencies to maintain peace and support public safety during religious activities and celebrations.

The NSCDC command said the officers will focus on ensuring safe environments for residents and travellers across the state. This includes regular patrols and presence in high‑traffic areas.

The deployment forms part of coordinated security arrangements in Kwara State for the holiday period.
