President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Minister of Works, David Umahi, on his 63rd birthday, applauding his commitment to delivering critical infrastructure projects and describing him as one of the administration’s most dedicated public servants. The message was conveyed in a statement issued on Saturday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, as the minister marked his birthday.

Highlighting the minister’s contribution to the Renewed Hope Agenda, the President described Umahi as “one of my outstanding, hardworking ministers,” commending his passion, patriotism and unwavering commitment to national development.

According to Tinubu, the Minister of Works has remained focused on constructing roads and bridges that will stand the test of time while improving connectivity and supporting economic growth across the country. The President said Tinubu hails Umahi for consistently demonstrating diligence and a strong sense of responsibility in executing government projects.

Tinubu also praised Umahi’s practical leadership style, noting that the minister regularly visits construction sites across Nigeria instead of relying solely on reports from officials.

According to the President, the Works Minister personally monitors ongoing projects to ensure contractors comply with approved standards, specifications and timelines. He said the minister’s direct supervision has reinforced quality assurance and accountability in the execution of major road and bridge projects nationwide.

Before his appointment as Minister of Works, Umahi represented Ebonyi South Senatorial District in the Senate after completing two consecutive terms as Governor of Ebonyi State between 2015 and 2023. Born on July 25, 1963, the former governor has remained active in public service, transitioning from state leadership to overseeing some of Nigeria’s largest infrastructure projects at the federal level.

The President encouraged Umahi to sustain the pace of road construction, rehabilitation and infrastructure delivery in line with the administration’s goal of improving the quality of life for Nigerians. Tinubu also extended warm birthday wishes to the minister and his family, praying for continued good health, strength and wisdom as he continues to serve the nation.
