Residents of Kogi State have pledged to support President Bola Tinubu and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo in future elections, citing ongoing Kogi projects and state-led infrastructure developments that they say have significantly improved living conditions across the state.

The commitment was expressed during a tour of federal and state projects by members of the Presidential Media Team and the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Yagba West Local Government Area. Speaking while receiving the delegation, the Kogi State Commissioner for Environment and Ecological Management, Dr. Joseph Oluwasegun, said communities in the area had experienced unprecedented development through investments in roads, schools, healthcare facilities and other public infrastructure.

According to him, Governor Ododo has completed about 15 kilometres of internal roads in Egbe, while the area has also benefited from appointments into key positions within the state government, including two commissioners. Oluwasegun noted that Governor Ododo’s repeated visits to Egbe marked a significant departure from previous administrations, describing the visits as historic for the community.

He said residents believe the progress recorded under the governor has been made possible through the support received from the Tinubu administration, particularly increased federal funding and the establishment of the North Central Development Commission to accelerate regional development. The commissioner maintained that the community intends to demonstrate its appreciation by supporting both President Tinubu and Governor Ododo at the polls whenever elections are conducted.

Chairman of Yagba West Local Government Area, Ologun Tosin, also commended the ongoing infrastructure development, particularly the newly constructed roads in Egbe, which he said have reduced travel time and improved safety for residents and motorists. He stated that the people of the area remain grateful for the interventions and are prepared to express their appreciation through their votes.

Director-General of the Kogi State Road Maintenance Agency, Engr. Bolaji Taye, explained that although the road projects were executed through direct labour to minimise costs, construction standards were not compromised. According to him, the roads were built to international specifications to ensure durability and long-term service.

Leading the inspection team, Special Adviser to the President on Public Communication and head of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Chief Sunday Dare, reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to expanding infrastructure across Nigeria. He assured residents that the Tinubu administration remains focused on delivering projects capable of improving transportation, commerce and overall economic development in Kogi State and beyond.

Dare noted that the Federal Government recently awarded additional road construction contracts in Kogi and several other states to improve connectivity and facilitate the movement of people and goods. During the inspection of sections of the Kabba–Egbe–Omuaran Federal Highway, the President’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Engagement, Mr. Fredrick Nwabufo, said ongoing road construction projects reflect the administration’s determination to upgrade critical transport infrastructure nationwide.

He stressed that numerous road projects currently underway demonstrate the government’s resolve to improve accessibility and support economic activities across the country. Kogi State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Kingsley Fanwo, also praised the Federal Government for approving the rehabilitation of the Kabba–Egbe–Omuaran road, describing the intervention as timely after years of deterioration that disrupted movement within the area.

The inspection formed part of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors’ nationwide assessment of federal and state projects aimed at evaluating ongoing development initiatives under the current administration, with Kogi projects receiving commendation from several community leaders during the visit.
