JAMB UTME results for candidates who sat for the examination on Thursday have been released by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, as the agency continues its phased release process for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

The Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination is a computer-based test conducted annually by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board for admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

The 2026 UTME commenced in April and is being conducted in batches across accredited Computer-Based Test centres nationwide. Results are typically released in phases after verification processes are completed to ensure accuracy and integrity. JAMB has maintained a system where candidates receive their results primarily through SMS before additional access is enabled on its online portal.

The release of JAMB UTME results for Thursday candidates was confirmed in an official update by the examination body. Candidates who participated in the examination were advised to check their results by sending “UTMERESULT” to the designated short code using the phone number used for registration.

JAMB reiterated that results are released in batches as scripts undergo post-examination analysis and verification. The board also noted that some results may be withheld if irregularities are detected, pending further review. The ongoing release of JAMB UTME results reflects the board’s standard procedure of ensuring that only verified scores are made available to candidates.

Officials have consistently emphasised that delays in accessing results may occur due to the volume of candidates and the need for quality checks. The UTME remains a key requirement for admission into Nigerian universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education, with candidates assessed across four subjects, including compulsory Use of English.

The phased release of JAMB UTME results is critical for candidates preparing for the next stage of the admission process, including post-UTME screenings and institutional applications. Timely access to results allows candidates to evaluate their performance and make informed decisions about course and institution choices. It also underscores the importance of examination integrity, as verification processes aim to reduce malpractice and ensure fairness.
