The APC disowns nomination forms price list circulating online, describing it as false and unauthorised, while clarifying that no official decision has been taken on the cost of nomination forms for the 2027 general elections.
The clarification on APC disowns nomination forms price list follows the circulation of a viral message, particularly on WhatsApp, claiming to detail the fees for expression of interest and nomination forms ahead of the 2027 elections.
The development comes amid growing political activity and early alignments ahead of the next general election cycle.
In previous election cycles, the pricing of nomination forms has attracted public debate, especially during the 2023 elections when costs drew scrutiny over access to political participation.
In a statement issued in Abuja, the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Felix Morka, dismissed the circulating document, stressing that it did not originate from the party.
“The APC states categorically that the report is fake, and did not emanate from the Party,” the statement read.
He further clarified that no decision had been reached regarding the pricing of nomination forms for the 2027 elections, reinforcing the party’s position that the claims were baseless.
“To be clear, no decision or announcement has been made on the sale or pricing of forms for the 2027 elections. The report is a mere figment of the writer’s mischievous imagination,” he added.
The APC disowns nomination forms price list clarification also urged party members, media organisations, and the general public to disregard the viral report entirely.
“We urge Party members, the media, and the general public to disregard the report in its entirety,” the statement concluded.
The viral message had claimed that presidential nomination and expression of interest forms would cost N200 million, while State Assembly forms were allegedly priced at N20 million.
The APC disowns nomination forms price list development highlights the role of misinformation in Nigeria’s political space, particularly as the country gradually approaches another election cycle.
By issuing an early clarification, the party seeks to prevent confusion among aspirants and stakeholders, while maintaining control over official communication channels.
The statement also reinforces the need for verified information in politically sensitive matters such as electoral processes and participation costs.
The issue may also revive broader discussions about the affordability of nomination forms and inclusiveness in Nigeria’s democratic system, especially given past debates around high fees.
