President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu have returned to Nigeria after completing a two-day state visit to the United Kingdom.

The presidential aircraft touched down in Nigeria on Friday, marking the end of the official visit to the UK. The visit, which held from March 18 to 19, 2026, was described as a formal state engagement between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

It was the first state visit by a Nigerian leader to the UK in 37 years, according to available records.

A video shared by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, captured the arrival of the president and the First Lady in Nigeria.

Senior government officials, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, were present to receive the presidential delegation on arrival.

During the visit, President Tinubu and his delegation participated in official engagements hosted by Charles III and Queen Camilla at Windsor Castle.

The programme included a ceremonial welcome, honour guard and state banquet attended by members of the Nigerian delegation.

President Tinubu also held a bilateral meeting with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer as part of efforts to strengthen relations between both countries.

During the visit, Nigeria and the United Kingdom signed agreements, including a £746 million financing arrangement involving UK Export Finance, the Nigerian Ports Authority and the Federal Ministry of Finance.

Another agreement focused on facilitating the return of failed asylum seekers, visa overstayers and convicted offenders.
