President Bola Tinubu has approved the deployment of 65 ambassadors to Nigeria’s diplomatic missions across the world and the United Nations, months after their nominations were confirmed by the Senate.
Among the prominent appointments are Reno Omokri, who has been posted to Mexico, and former aviation minister Femi Fani-Kayode, who will serve as Nigeria’s envoy to Germany.
The list of ambassadors includes 31 career diplomats and 34 non-career envoys whose nominations were confirmed by the Senate in December 2025 after being submitted by the President.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the Presidency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has begun notifying host countries and requesting agrément, the diplomatic approval required before ambassadors can formally assume duties.
Several political figures and former government officials were included among the non-career ambassadors.

- Senator Jimoh Ibrahim – Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations
- Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (rtd.) – China
- Okezie Ikpeazu, former Abia State governor – Spain
- Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, former Enugu State governor – Greece
- Olufemi Pedro, former Ogun State deputy governor – Australia
- Isaac Adewole, former Minister of Health – Canada
- Lateef Kayode Are, former DSS Director-General – United States
Other non-career envoys include Senator Ita Enang to South Africa, Grace Bent to Togo, and Chioma Ohakim to Poland.

The postings also include career diplomats assigned to various missions worldwide. Among them are:
- Ambassador Nwabiola Ezenwa Chukwumeka – Côte d’Ivoire
- Ambassador Mohammed Mahmud Lele – Algeria
- Ambassador Jane Adams Michael – Jamaica
- Ambassador Ibrahim Danlami – Kenya
- Ambassador Ayeni Adebayo Emmanuel – Belgium
- Ambassador Akande Wahab Adekola – Switzerland
- Ambassador Abdussalam Habu Zayyad – Senegal
President Tinubu directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to begin induction programmes for the ambassadors and high commissioners before their deployment to their respective missions.
The ministry has already received diplomatic clearance from the United Kingdom for Ambassador Aminu Dalhatu and from France for Ambassador Ayo Oke, while requests for agrément have been sent to other host countries.
