The African Democratic Congress has described former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai and Senior Advocate of Nigeria Abubakar Malami as victims of selective justice, saying legal actions against them reflect uneven application of the law.
The African Democratic Congress is a registered political party in Nigeria. Selective justice is a term used in public discourse to allege unequal treatment under the law for different public figures.
El-Rufai and Malami are prominent Nigerian public figures who have faced recent legal scrutiny.
At a press briefing in Abuja on Tuesday, Mr. Ajuji Ahmed, National Chairman of the ADC, said that El-Rufai and Malami have been subjected to selective justice through legal processes that he said do not reflect equal enforcement of the law.
Ahmed cited actions by law enforcement agencies and prosecuting authorities concerning both men as examples of what the party described as imbalanced legal treatment.
He said the party views the situation as harmful to justice and national unity, and noted that equitable enforcement of the law is essential to uphold the rule of law.
The ADC chairman called on the Federal Government, judiciary, and other stakeholders to ensure that legal processes are fair and consistent for all Nigerians, regardless of status.
The ADC’s statement adds to public discussion on legal accountability and fairness in Nigeria and may influence debates on justice sector processes.
Law enforcement and judicial authorities operate under Nigeria’s legal framework to pursue investigations and prosecutions based on evidence and statutory provisions.
