The All Progressives Grand Alliance has commenced preparations for a nationwide Continuous Electronic Membership Registration Exercise to strengthen and update its party membership database.
Political parties in Nigeria maintain membership registers to identify eligible members and comply with electoral and party administrative requirements.
Electronic registration systems are used to modernise processes and improve data accuracy and accessibility for party members.
At a news briefing in Awka, the National Publicity Secretary of APGA, Mazi Ejimofor Opara, said the nationwide registration will begin on March 1, 2026. The exercise will be conducted simultaneously across all 8,809 electoral wards in Nigeria.
Opara recalled that APGA became the first political party in Nigeria to automate its membership registration process in June 2024.
He described that initiative as reflecting the party’s commitment to transparency, efficiency, and inclusivity.
He said the exercise is open to all interested Nigerians subject to requirements, including possession of a valid voter’s card and two passport photographs.
Opara explained that registration can be completed online via the party’s official website, through WhatsApp numbers provided by the party, or by visiting designated ward offices to collect registration forms.
Participants will receive a temporary membership slip upon registration, after which a permanent membership card will be issued later.
He noted that existing members who previously completed electronic registration do not need to re-register.
Members who have not yet uploaded their passport photographs are required to update their records online or through the designated WhatsApp channels.
Opara invited all eligible Nigerians to join the party and participate in the registration to contribute to the party’s growth.
The continuous electronic registration exercise will create an updated national membership database for APGA and facilitate identification of members ahead of internal party processes and future elections.
