The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has urged Corps members to serve with commitment, passion and patriotism during their one‑year mandatory national service, a senior NYSC official said on Monday.
Dr Levi Agim, the Director of Internal Audit at NYSC, gave the charge while addressing Corps members serving in Rivers State.
He emphasised the importance of dedication and loyalty as guiding principles in their service to host communities and the nation.
Agim said Corps members should approach their duties with a sense of patriotism and responsibility, reflecting the core values of the NYSC scheme.
He said the service year offers young Nigerians an opportunity to contribute to national development and foster unity across diverse communities.
NYSC’s call aligns with its broader mandate to instil national integration, discipline and development ethos in participating graduates, who are deployed to states different from their states of origin to carry out community development projects and other professional duties.
The NYSC scheme, established by law, requires eligible Nigerian graduates under a specified age to undertake one year of national service, intended to promote unity and contribute to socio‑economic growth across the country.
Officials have routinely encouraged Corps members to embrace the core values of the NYSC, including discipline, loyalty, and patriotic service, as they carry out assignments in their host communities.
The National Youth Service Corps, through its Director of Internal Audit, has urged Corps members in Rivers State to conduct their service with commitment, passion and patriotism, reflecting the scheme’s values and contributing positively to national development.
