Vice-President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to represent President Bola Tinubu at the 2026 African Union (AU) Summit, the newspaper reported on Thursday.
Shettima’s departure was confirmed in an official statement as he travelled to Ethiopia’s capital to participate in the continental gathering.
The summit brings together leaders from across Africa for high-level meetings and formal sessions of the African Union, where representatives discuss matters of continental interest.
The 2026 AU Summit is scheduled to include the 39th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government and the 30th General Assembly.
Shettima is expected to join other African leaders in plenary sessions and engage in discussions on issues on the summit’s agenda.
