Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has called on eligible voters in the Ahoada East and Khana Local Government Areas to participate actively and support All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in the bye‑elections scheduled for Saturday, February 21, 2026.

He made the appeal in a statement on Friday, February 20, 2026.

Fubara urged residents of the two local government areas to turn out and exercise their civic rights in the bye‑elections for the Rivers State House of Assembly seats representing Ahoada East Constituency II and Khana Constituency II.

According to the statement, the governor described the elections as a “family affair” and specifically encouraged eligible voters to support the candidates fielded by the APC for the two vacant legislative seats.

The bye‑elections are intended to fill vacancies in the Rivers State House of Assembly arising from previous departures. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) scheduled the polls for February 21.

INEC officials have confirmed that both bye‑elections will proceed with multiple candidates contesting, although major opposition parties PDP, Labour Party, and African Democratic Congress reportedly have no candidates in the contests.

Fubara also called on residents to be peaceful and law‑abiding throughout the electoral process. The governor’s statement noted the importance of orderly conduct and full participation by voters in the polls.

The elections coincide with other polls scheduled by INEC, including area council elections in the Federal Capital Territory and bye‑elections in parts of Kano State.
