The Edo State Government says it has arrested Bishop Gideon Osazee, founder of Rollo Life of Christ Brethren Ministry, for allegedly sexually abusing two biological sisters, aged 13 and 17. Officials say other girls have stepped forward with similar claims.
State officials said Bishop Osazee was taken into custody after several days of surveillance. The arrest was made following accusations that he engaged in sexual acts with the two minors in his church community.
The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Eugene Abdullah, said additional children from the church have reported incidents of alleged sexual harassment linked to the suspect.
Authorities said four other girls have come forward, claiming that Osazee was involved in sexual activity with them. These reports were made following the initial allegations from the two sisters aged 13 and 17.
A representative from the Vivian Sexual Assault Referral Centre, Faith Edebor, said preliminary investigation supports the claims made by the victims.
Bishop Osazee denied the allegations. He said he had a relationship with the eldest sister but claimed she told him she was 21 years old at the time of the interactions.
The case has been handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Edo State Police Command for further investigation and possible prosecution. Law enforcement agencies are working to gather evidence and interview additional alleged victims.
Investigations are ongoing. Officials have not yet released information on any formal charges filed or court dates. Authorities have said the focus remains on ensuring a thorough investigation and protecting any other potential victims.
