Dr Adedeji Adeleke, father of Nigerian music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, says multiple DNA tests show his son is not the biological father of 12‑year‑old Anuoluwapo, who has been at the centre of a long‑running paternity dispute. Adeleke spoke at a press conference in Lagos on Wednesday.

The controversy resurfaced in mid‑January 2026 after an Instagram account allegedly connected to the girl appealed to Davido to take another DNA test. The girl said she faced bullying and emotional distress at school because of claims he was her father.

Adeleke said the family opted for scientific verification and conducted multiple DNA tests to ascertain paternity. He said all the results showed zero per cent probability that Davido is the girl’s father.

He explained that three tests were done on Davido himself. One test was declared contaminated, and two were negative. To rule out mistaken identity with his cousin, Adebayo Adeleke (B‑Red), two additional tests were done on him, and both were also negative.

Dr Adeleke said saliva samples were taken from the singer and the girl at a Lagos hospital and sent abroad for analysis. The tests were conducted in the presence of the girl’s family and representatives.

Despite the DNA results, Adeleke said he had financially supported the girl and her mother in the past. He said he paid the girl’s school fees and assisted with welfare expenses but stressed that this support was offered out of compassion and not as an admission of paternity.

He said he welcomed more grandchildren but insisted that science must guide paternity determination. “If you say you are my granddaughter and science has proven that you are my granddaughter, I would gladly accept you,” he said.

Claims continue on social media, with some posting alleged private messages and questioning the accuracy of tests. The girl’s mother and supporters have disputed aspects of the testing process and asked for fresh, independently supervised tests.

Davido himself has responded publicly to the renewed dispute on social media in previous weeks, saying that five DNA tests had already been conducted and all were negative, and urging critics to stop engaging him on the matter.

As the dispute continues publicly, calls for independent verification of test results remain among the girl’s supporters. The Adeleke family maintains that the issue should be laid to rest based on available scientific evidence.
