The ₦500,000 reward promised by Abdul Samad Rabiu, Chairman of BUA Group, to every member of the Super Eagles squad remains active and unchanged, Rabiu said on Thursday, January 15, 2026.
He made the statement while speaking with reporters ahead of Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 semifinal match against Morocco in Rabat.
Rabiu reiterated that the reward stands regardless of match outcomes and is part of his personal support for the national team’s effort at the continental tournament. “The total amount of the reward remains the same.
I will give that reward to the entire team. I am confident they will make Nigeria proud,” he said, underscoring his belief in the squad’s ability.
The BUA chairman’s pledge follows the Super Eagles’ progress to the AFCON semifinals after a 2–0 victory over Algeria in the quarterfinals on January 10, 2026, a result that heightened national excitement and support for the team.
Rabiu said his support for the Super Eagles reflects a broader desire to encourage Nigerian athletes and celebrate national pride. He urged fans and citizens to continue backing the team as they pursue Championship success at AFCON, which is being hosted in Morocco.
The chairman also noted that incentives such as his reward can help boost morale and show appreciation for the players’ hard work and dedication. He expressed confidence that the squad’s unity and performance will inspire younger generations and elevate Nigeria’s global football profile.
Support for the Super Eagles has surged across Nigeria as the team nears a potential AFCON final berth. Citizens, celebrities and private organisations have shared messages of encouragement, reflecting national excitement about the country’s football prospects.
With the semifinal match scheduled for Wednesday, January 14, 2026, against the tournament hosts Morocco, anticipation remains high across Nigeria. Fans and sports stakeholders are watching closely as the Super Eagles aim to reach the final and compete for the AFCON 2025 title.
Rabiu’s continued pledge underscores a growing trend of private sector support for Nigerian sports, where business leaders back national teams with incentives that elevate morale and national interest in major competitions.
