An Arewa socio-political group has commended President Bola Tinubu’s recent directive on oil revenue remittance and urged that the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) be included in the implementation process.
The group made its position known in a statement issued on Monday, February 24, 2026.
The organisation said it “welcomed” the President’s oil revenue remittance order, describing it as a positive step in strengthening fiscal processes in Nigeria.
The order, signed by Tinubu, mandates the direct remittance of oil and gas revenues to the Federation Account, aiming to enhance transparency and ensure constitutionally due funds are credited to the central pool for onward distribution to federal, state and local governments.
In the statement, the group urged that the RMAFC be incorporated as a key stakeholder in the implementation of the order.
It said that RMAFC’s statutory mandate to monitor revenue accruals and disbursements makes its participation important to the process.
According to the group, including RMAFC would help strengthen the credibility, transparency and institutional balance of the policy’s execution.
The group noted that RMAFC is constitutionally tasked with monitoring revenue inflows and distribution among the three tiers of government, and said this role makes the commission a critical partner in managing changes to revenue administration under the new directive.
