The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released its schedule of activities ahead of the 2027 general elections and continues internal preparations, while several opposition parties remain entangled in leadership disputes and organisational challenges, sources said on Tuesday.

The ruling party’s activity calendar, signed by Senator Ajibola Basiru, National Secretary of the APC, outlines a timetable that includes the party’s national convention scheduled for March 25 to 28, 2026, according to party documents.

APC leaders said the party is consolidating its structures and engaging in grassroots mobilisation across states ahead of the 2027 polls. Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, APC National Chairman, highlighted ongoing political engagements that the party said targeted voter interaction and organisational strengthening.

In contrast, major opposition platforms in the country continue to contend with unresolved disputes and leadership uncertainty. The Labour Party (LP) has been navigating a prolonged leadership crisis that led to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recognising factional leadership in line with a court order.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has multiple leadership claims before appellate courts, and rival factions are contesting authority, resulting in delayed party activities.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC), an emerging opposition coalition platform, has postponed planned ward congresses and shifted focus to internal committees, according to party communications, contributing to delays in formal political organising.

APC’s early unveiling of its mobilising schedule marks the ruling party as among the first to set formal timelines ahead of the 2027 election cycle. The move comes against a backdrop of delayed congresses, legal disputes and structural fragmentation across several opposition parties.

The National Convention’s placement in March 2026 positions the APC to finalise candidate selection, platform development and internal alignment well before statutory deadlines for electoral processes.

The All Progressives Congress has outlined its timetable of activities in preparation for the 2027 general elections, including an early national convention.

Opposition parties, including the LP, PDP and ADC, continue to address internal leadership and structural challenges. The developments come amid broader political realignments and organisational efforts ahead of the forthcoming election cycle.
