The Grand Patron of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has urged Katsina residents to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

Tompolo made the appeal during the inauguration of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement in Katsina State.

Represented by the Managing Director of Tantita Limited, High Chief Kestin Ebimorbowe Pondi, he said Katsina should reciprocate what he described as the confidence Tinubu had shown in the state.

According to him, the President’s relationship with Katsina was based on “trust, confidence and inclusion,” citing the appointment of several indigenes to strategic positions in the Federal Government.

Among those mentioned were Special Adviser to the President on Political Affairs, Ibrahim Kabir Masari; Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Muttaqa Rabe Darma; and Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa.

He also listed Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education, Idris Muhammed Bugaje; Managing Director of the Transmission Company of Nigeria, Sule Ahmed Abdulaziz; and Chairman of the Corporate Affairs Commission, Senator Ibrahim Ida.

Others included former Governor Ibrahim Shehu Shema, who chairs the Federal Capital Development Authority; former Governor Aminu Bello Masari, Chairman of the TETFund Board of Trustees; and Senator Kabir Abdullahi Barkiya, Chairman of the Nigerian Agricultural Land Development Authority.

Tompolo said the appointments indicated that Katsina was being recognised for its human resources and capacity, rather than merely its electoral strength.

“These are not ceremonial appointments. They are positions of responsibility, authority and national consequence,” he said.

He further referenced Katsina’s role in the political developments that preceded Muhammadu Buhari’s election as President in 2015.

Tompolo said the Door-to-Door Movement would take its campaign to wards, communities, markets and households as the 2027 election approaches.

He also highlighted Federal Government reforms, particularly greater financial autonomy for local governments, arguing that increased resources at the grassroots could improve infrastructure and basic services.

Katsina State Governor Dikko Umar Radda, who spoke at the event, assured Tinubu of the state’s support for his re-election.

Radda described Katsina as an APC state and expressed confidence that Tinubu would secure a decisive victory there in 2027.

The governor also praised the President’s reforms, saying they had created opportunities for state governments to deliver more development.

National Coordinator of the movement, Sunday Asuku, said the organisation was established to mobilise grassroots support for Tinubu through door-to-door campaigns nationwide.

He urged coordinators in Katsina’s 34 local government areas to engage residents and communicate the administration’s achievements.

State Coordinator Faisal Kaita similarly pledged sustained mobilisation across the state.

The event ended with the distribution of campaign vehicles and other equipment to local government coordinators of the movement.
