The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has introduced a new online system allowing 2026 UTME candidates to verify and upload O’Level results from home. The initiative is targeted at candidates seeking admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions through the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME.
The new service initially covers results issued by the West African Examinations Council, WAEC. JAMB said the system would reduce candidates’ dependence on Computer-Based Test, CBT, centres, particularly during periods of heavy patronage.
The Board explained that candidates’ results would be electronically verified directly with examination bodies before being uploaded to their JAMB profiles. In a statement issued on Monday, JAMB Acting Director, Public Affairs and Protocol, Dr Fabian Benjamin, said the initiative would make the process faster, easier and safer.
He added that the digital verification process would reduce errors associated with manual result uploads. According to JAMB, the system would also help prevent the submission of fraudulent or unverified results, misplaced certificates and incorrect entries of subjects or grades.
Candidates are expected to first obtain a Result Verification Code through the designated result verification portal. To begin the process, they must provide their National Identification Number, NIN, and indicate the number of O’Level sittings.
They are also required to select the relevant examination body or bodies before providing their email address and GSM number. Candidates will then make payment through the available payment gateway and enter their examination number, examination series and examination year.
Following successful verification, JAMB will issue a Verification Code to the candidate. The candidate must then send “VERIFY” followed by the Verification Code to 55019 or 66019. JAMB said candidates would receive a notification confirming the verification and subsequent submission of their results.
Candidates with two O’Level sittings are required to log into their JAMB e-Facility dashboard. They should select the “2026 UTME O’Level Upload” option and enter the Verification Code provided after verification. The candidate’s two verified results will then be displayed on the platform.
Candidates can select the relevant subjects and corresponding grades from the displayed results. JAMB said candidates must select at least five and no more than nine subjects. No subject should be selected more than once. After making the required selections, candidates should click “Apply the O’Level Results” to complete the process. A notification will subsequently be sent to the candidate once the upload has been successfully completed.
JAMB said the new system would be particularly useful when CBT centres experience long queues, heavy patronage or network-related difficulties.
The Board said the initiative forms part of its broader digital transformation programme aimed at allowing candidates to complete important admission processes remotely. With the new arrangement, candidates can upload O’Level results without making unnecessary physical visits to CBT centres, while JAMB maintains electronic verification of the results submitted for admission purposes.
