The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has introduced a new toll-free short-code hotline, 3367, to enable residents report traffic emergencies and complaints at no cost as part of efforts to improve road safety and public accountability.

The LASTMA toll-free hotline replaces the agency’s previous long-service code with a simpler platform designed to provide quicker access to emergency response services across Lagos State. According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, Adebayo Taofiq, the hotline is currently available to subscribers on MTN, Glo and 9mobile networks.

The agency said motorists and other road users can use the new service to report incidents including broken-down vehicles, road crashes, disabled articulated trucks, stranded fuel tankers, traffic obstructions and other emergencies requiring immediate intervention.

In addition to emergency reporting, the LASTMA toll-free hotline also allows residents to submit complaints or commendations regarding the conduct, professionalism and operational activities of traffic management officers. LASTMA explained that the initiative is intended to strengthen transparency, accountability and service delivery while encouraging greater public participation in traffic management.

To make the service accessible to more residents, callers can communicate with operators in English, Yoruba or Pidgin English. The agency said the multilingual support is designed to remove communication barriers during emergencies and ensure that critical information reaches response teams without delay.

LASTMA General Manager Olalekan Bakare-Oki described the introduction of the hotline as another milestone in the agency’s drive to build a safer and technology-driven transportation system.

He said the LASTMA toll-free hotline offers residents a direct, convenient and free communication channel for reporting incidents that require urgent attention. Bakare-Oki added that the growing population and increasing traffic complexity in Lagos require responsive technology-backed solutions capable of delivering faster interventions.

He assured residents that all reports received through the platform would be treated professionally and confidentially before being forwarded to the appropriate operational units for immediate action. The general manager also encouraged Lagos residents to actively use the hotline to report emergencies, support road safety efforts and promote greater accountability within the state’s traffic management system.
