Aliko Dangote, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Dangote Group, has visited Burundi to explore potential investment opportunities and held discussions with President Evariste Ndayishimiye, the newspaper reported.
The visit included a meeting at the presidential palace, where Dangote and President Ndayishimiye discussed areas of shared interest, the Vanguard report said.
The delegation accompanying Dangote included former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo, according to the report.
During the visit, Dangote and Burundi’s president engaged in high-level talks aimed at identifying possible areas for business engagement, according to the publication.
The discussions were described as covering investment opportunities and cooperation, though specific sectors were not detailed in the report.
The meeting was framed as part of Dangote’s broader engagement to explore the business climate in Burundi, the Vanguard report said, noting that the dialogue was both economic and diplomatic in scope.
The report noted that Dangote was accompanied by former Nigerian President Obasanjo during the visit. Discussions with President Ndayishimiye took place at the presidential residence in Bujumbura, the capital of Burundi.
